It means you take your dose at the pharmacy while a pharmacist watches, rather than taking it home. It confirms the dose was taken as prescribed and gives you regular contact with a health professional who will notice if something is wrong.

Mostly it is about safety at the start of treatment, when doses are being adjusted and tolerance is still changing. It also protects against doses being lost, taken by someone else, or taken at the wrong time. It is not a punishment, and it is not permanent for most people.

A couple of minutes for most medications. Suboxone takes a bit longer because it has to dissolve fully under the tongue. We prepare doses in advance of your usual time so you are not standing around.

Yes. Dosing takes place in a private area away from the main counter, and our staff will not announce what you are collecting. If anything about the setup feels exposed to you, tell us and we will change how we do it.

Call 778-421-3333 and tell us. If you are on your way we will wait where we reasonably can. Ringing ahead is always better than not coming at all.

Come in the next day and we will sort it out — no lecture. We will have already contacted your prescriber. If you miss three or more days in a row, your tolerance drops and your prescriber has to reassess your dose before you restart, because going back to your old dose is genuinely dangerous.

When your prescriber authorises take-home doses. That is their decision, and it usually follows a period of stable treatment. We can tell them how your dosing has been going, which is often part of what they are looking at.

We stay open 9 AM – 2 PM on statutory holidays, so you can come in for your dose during those hours the same as any other day.

Yes. Guest dosing at another pharmacy can be arranged, or your prescriber may authorise carries for the trip. Both take a few days to organise, so give us as much notice as you can.

No. Plenty of our OAT patients fill their other prescriptions elsewhere, and that is entirely fine. If you do want everything in one place, it makes interaction checking easier — but it is your call.
