Wraparound support

More than
a dispensary.

Dispensing is the part people see. The rest of it — finding a prescriber, getting a BC Services Card replaced, sorting out coverage, chasing a renewal that has run out, knowing where to go on a bad week — is where treatment usually falls apart. Argyle Pharmacy helps with that side too. No forms to prove you deserve it, and no lectures attached.

What’s included
🩺

Finding a prescriber

OAT needs an authorised prescriber. If you do not have one, or yours has moved on, we will help you connect with someone in the Alberni Valley.

🪪

ID and coverage help

Lost BC Services Card, no PharmaCare registration, Fair PharmaCare paperwork — we will sit down and work through it with you rather than hand you a phone number.

🧰

Free naloxone and training

Take-home naloxone kits at no cost, with hands-on training. No prescription, no health card, no questions.

🗺️

Local service navigation

We can point you toward Island Health services, local outreach, counselling, treatment beds, and harm reduction supply sites in the Alberni Valley.

💊

Medication reviews

A full Medication Review covering everything you take — OAT, prescriptions, over-the-counter, supplements — checked for interactions, with a written plan you keep.

🚭

Smoking cessation

Most people in OAT smoke, and almost nobody gets offered help with it. Our pharmacists can prescribe and support a quit attempt whenever you want one — not before.

👪

Support for family

Partners, parents and friends can talk to us too. What to do in an overdose, how to carry naloxone, what OAT actually is, and what is realistic to expect.

🔒

Confidential, with limits stated plainly

We share information with your prescriber and care team because that is how treatment works. We do not share it with anyone else without your consent.

How it works

How to start a conversation

01

Come in or call

Walk in any day we are open, or call 778-421-3333. You do not need an appointment and you do not need to be a patient here.

02

Say as much or as little as you want

You can ask a single question and leave. Nobody will push you toward starting treatment, and nobody will follow up unless you ask us to.

03

We do the legwork

Calls to prescribers, coverage forms, transfers, referrals. Where something needs chasing, we chase it.

04

We stay reachable

A pharmacist is available every day we are open. Once you are a patient here, you have a phone number that gets you a person who knows your file.

Common questions

Frequently Asked Questions.

Yes. Come in or call 778-421-3333. We will explain how OAT works and help you connect with an authorised prescriber in the Alberni Valley. Not having a prescriber yet is one of the most common reasons people come to us first.

It is a hurdle, not a wall. We can dispense while it is being sorted, and we will help you work through replacing your card and registering for coverage. Bring what you do have.

Yes. Come in for naloxone, for a question, for information about what treatment involves, or for nothing in particular. There is no expectation attached and nobody will chase you.

Come and talk to us. The most useful concrete things are usually: carry naloxone and know how to use it, know that the Good Samaritan Drug Overdose Act protects people who call 911, and understand what OAT is so you can talk about it without it being a fight. We will go through all three with you.

Your prescriber and the health professionals directly involved in your care — that is what makes coordinated treatment possible. Beyond that, nobody, without your written consent. Not employers, not family, not anyone asking at the counter.

Yes. Free take-home naloxone kits, nasal or injectable, with training. No prescription, no health card, no explanation needed. Used kits are replaced free.

Worth checking properly, yes. Book a Medication Review with us — we go through everything you take, including over-the-counter products and supplements, screen for interactions, and send anything concerning to your prescriber.

That is a valid goal and it is your decision. It is also one that goes far better slowly and with your prescriber than quickly and alone. Tell us you are thinking about it and we will help you raise it with them and support the taper if that is what you choose.

We coordinate with prescribers, Island Health services and local outreach in the Alberni Valley as part of ordinary care. If you need pointing somewhere we do not cover, we will tell you where to go rather than leave you at a dead end.
