We are open seven days a week: Mon–Fri 9 AM – 4 PM · Sat–Sun 9 AM – 2 PM. On statutory holidays we're open 9 AM – 2 PM, so dosing continues even on a long weekend.

Does Argyle Pharmacy provide opioid agonist treatment?

Yes — it is our primary service. We dispense methadone, Kadian (slow-release oral morphine) and Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone), with witnessed dosing seven days a week. Care is confidential, coordinated with your prescriber, and free of judgement.

Do I need a prescriber before I come in?

OAT has to be prescribed, but you do not need a prescriber to talk to us. Call 778-421-3333 or walk in, and we will explain how treatment works and help you connect with an authorised prescriber in the Alberni Valley.

Is OAT covered in British Columbia?

Accepted Answer

OAT medications are covered by PharmaCare for most eligible BC residents, and many patients pay nothing. We check your coverage, help you register for Fair PharmaCare, and submit any Special Authority paperwork.

Can I get a free naloxone kit?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Free take-home naloxone kits, nasal or injectable, with hands-on training. No prescription, no health card, and no explanation required. Used kits are replaced free.

Does Argyle Pharmacy offer free delivery?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Free prescription delivery throughout Port Alberni and the Alberni Valley, with no minimum and no fee. Prescriber-authorised take-home OAT doses can be delivered too; witnessed doses are taken at the pharmacy.

Yes, and we handle the paperwork. Use the transfer form at argylepharmacy.ca/rx-refills or call 778-421-3333 with your current pharmacy's name and phone number. OAT transfers are usually arranged without any interruption to your dosing.

I don't have a family doctor. Can Argyle Pharmacy help?

Yes. Argyle Pharmacy can connect you with a licensed physician by phone or video, usually the same day. Any prescription comes straight back to the pharmacy to be filled or delivered free. You do not need an existing patient file, a referral, or a family doctor. Call 778-421-3333 to arrange it.

Can a pharmacist treat minor ailments without a doctor?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Since June 2023, British Columbia pharmacists can assess and prescribe for more than twenty minor ailments — including UTIs, cold sores, shingles, pink eye, eczema and heartburn — plus contraception. No appointment or referral needed.
