Treatment that meets you
where you are.
Argyle Pharmacy is a dedicated OAT pharmacy in Port Alberni. Alongside methadone, we dispense Suboxone (buprenorphine/naloxone) and Kadian (slow-release oral morphine) — the two other first-line OAT options — with witnessed dosing seven days a week, Mon–Fri 9 AM – 4 PM · Sat–Sun 9 AM – 2 PM. Your care is confidential, coordinated directly with your prescriber, and free of judgement. OAT medications are covered by PharmaCare for most eligible BC residents, and we check your coverage for you.
Open seven days a week
We dispense Mon–Fri 9 AM – 4 PM · Sat–Sun 9 AM – 2 PM. Weekends included, so there is never a gap in your treatment.
Suboxone — a safer profile
Buprenorphine has a ceiling effect on breathing, so overdose risk is substantially lower than with full agonists. That is why BC guidelines put it first-line, and why take-home doses are often authorised sooner.
Kadian — once daily, when others haven't fit
Slow-release oral morphine in a once-a-day capsule, recognised in BC's OAT guidelines as an alternative when methadone or Suboxone hasn't worked well or caused side effects.
Witnessed dosing and carries
Daily witnessed doses at the pharmacy, and take-home doses once your prescriber authorises them.
Confidential by default
Dosing happens in a private area. We do not discuss your treatment with anyone you have not authorised.
We talk to your prescriber
Missed doses, dose changes, carry requests and renewals — we handle the back-and-forth so you are not chasing paperwork.
Coverage and Special Authority handled here
We check your PharmaCare status, help you register for Fair PharmaCare, and submit any Special Authority paperwork — Kadian's coverage often needs it.
Proper technique, either way
Suboxone dissolves under the tongue and is never swallowed; Kadian is swallowed whole and never crushed or chewed. We go over the right technique for your medication before you start.
Suboxone dental care advice
Buprenorphine that dissolves in the mouth has been linked to tooth decay. Rinse with water — do not brush straight after. We explain the routine, and it genuinely matters.
Interaction checking
We screen every other medication you are prescribed, including anything started at a walk-in or on discharge from hospital, and flag problems to your prescriber.
Delivery across the Alberni Valley
Free delivery of authorised take-home doses when getting here is the thing standing in your way.
Transfers handled by us
Moving from another pharmacy takes one phone call. We contact them and your prescriber — you do not have to explain yourself twice.
Starting OAT at Argyle Pharmacy
Talk to us first
Call 778-421-3333 or walk in. Ask anything you want about how OAT works, or the difference between Suboxone and Kadian. There is no commitment and nothing you have to disclose.
Connect with a prescriber
OAT is prescribed by an authorised prescriber. If you already have one, we coordinate with them. If you do not, we will help you find one locally.
Set a schedule that fits
Dosing usually starts as daily witnessed doses. Pick a time that works around your job, your kids, or your bus route — we will hold it for you.
Build toward carries
As treatment settles, your prescriber may authorise take-home doses. We prepare, label and log every carry, and can deliver them.
